MANCHEWE VILLAGE HUB
Manchewe Village Hub has the long term vision of becoming a resource center to provide children, youth, and adults from the surrounding communities of Manchewe Village a place to grow and learn, all while having fun. Our goal with this project is to construct a building, with the help of the community, that includes a lending library, technology center, nursery school, and outdoor playground. Malawi Youth Education Fund is helping to raise funding for the construction of this building and to bring Manchewe Village Hub to life.
THINGS ARE UNDERWAY, WITH MANCHEWE COMMUNITY LENDING LIBRARY
Manchewe Village Hub took step one in becoming a community resource center by opening Manchewe Community Lending Library. Opening officially in May 2026, the library has more than 1000 books, 10 laptop computers, and 400 registered library members. Becoming a registered library member is free for community members and means access to borrowing books and taking them home for one week and to using library computers and internet for educational or self-development purposes.
Manchewe Community Lending Library is overseen and governed by a volunteer Library Committee made up of eight passionate individuals from the local community. Day to day operations are managed by the Head Librarian, Media & Technology Specialist, and five volunteer Library Helpers. Library operating expenses are currently funded by the organizations LIFT-Malawi and Malawi Youth Education Fund, as well as the community-based business, Mushroom Farm Eco-Lodge.

Help Us Build a Permanent Home for Manchewe Village Hub
Manchewe Community Lending Library is currently operating out of a vacant building in Manchewe Village. However, this building is only available until January 2027, meaning we are looking for ways to construct a permanent home for the library, as well as the technology center, nursery school, and outdoor playground.
